- Tour Itinerary
Start the Salkantay Trek with pickup from the door of your hotel around 4:30 a.m. We will travel for 3.4 hours to the start of the trail; and once there, you will enjoy breakfast prepared by the chef. You will also be introduced to the team of porters and muleteers, who will carry all the equipment and accompany you along the route.
We begin with a 3-hour hike through an ancient Inca canal until we reach Soraypampa (3,800 m / 11,2467 ft). It will be excellent training for the following days. Once in Soraypampa, we will have a welcome lunch in the mountains.
The trail will continue with an ascent to the Humantay lagoon (4,200 m / 13,779 ft). It will be a 2-hour hike to the top. Once there, you will have time to relax, explore the surroundings, and enjoy the spectacular view offered by this turquoise lagoon. Next, we will continue two more hours through a beautiful valley with meandering streams until we reach our first campsite (Salkantaypampa) near the base of the Salkantay mountain.
From this campsite, we will have a spectacular uninterrupted view of the Salkantay mountain and the night sky. There you will enjoy dinner prepared by our chef and sleep under millions of stars.

Every morning, the porters and guides will wake you up with a hot cup of coffee or coca tea, you will be able to admire the impressive views of the mountain. After breakfast, we will begin the 2-hour climb to the highest and most challenging point of the trail, the Salkantay Pass (4,630 m / 15,190 ft). Once at the top, we will stop to appreciate the incredible beauty of this place and explore the surroundings.
Then we continue downhill for 3 hours to the lunch spot in Wayracmachay (3,800 m / 12,467 ft). Enjoying the landscapes and lunch; We will advance 4 more hours towards the goal of that day and arrive at the private camp in the small village of Collpa Pampa

After breakfast, you will prepare for the most beautiful day of this experience towards the legendary city of Machu Picchu. Today you will walk through narrow paths along the river, passing wooden bridges, small waterfalls, and banana plantations until you reach the village of Lucma bamba (2,000 m / 6,561 ft).
Today's lunch is unique. After walking for about 3 hours and taking a van, we will get ready to participate in the preparation of the Pachamanca, an ancient traditional Andean barbecue, consisting of burying various ingredients in hot stones. Cooking takes approximately 45 minutes; you will be able to enjoy different delicacies such as guinea pig, different types of potatoes, fruits and vegetables. After lunch, we will continue to an organic farm, where you will be able to taste the best fresh and organic coffee in the area.
Once satisfied and energized, we will make a 3-hour climb along the ancient Inca Trail to Llacta pata, a small Inca citadel located on top of a mountain at 2,750 m (9,022 ft); from here, you will be able to appreciate Machu Picchu for the first time. You will camp right in front of Machu Picchu; when you open your tent, and if the weather permits, you will be able to watch the sunrise and sunset over this incredible wonder.

Our chef will wake you up with a cup of coffee or coca tea where you will also enjoy a delicious breakfast. After breakfast it will be an easy 2-hour descent to the Hidroeléctrica station, where you will enjoy the last lunch prepared by the chef. The last part of your hike will be 3 hours through the Machu Picchu National Park to reach the town of Aguas Calientes.
Once in Aguas Calientes, your guide will take you to the hotel, where you can take a shower, visit the town or go to the hot springs. You will have dinner at a local restaurant while we plan the next and most anticipated day of the Salkantay Trek.

Today you will visit Machu Picchu, one of the seven wonders of the world. We will start at dawn, have breakfast at the hotel and take the first buses to arrive at Machu Picchu at sunrise. Once there, our expert guide will take you to tour the highlights of the citadel: temples, palaces, squares and enclosures, while revealing the mysteries hidden in this spectacular Inca city, nestled on the peak of a mountain. The guided tour lasts approximately 3 hours. If you have tickets, you will be able to climb Huayna Picchu or Mountain.
Once you have enjoyed the incredible lost city, your guide will take you back to Aguas Calientes depending on the train schedule, you will have time for lunch, or you will go directly to the train station. We normally book a train that leaves Aguas Calientes between 2:30 or 4:20 pm.
The train will travel for 2 hours to the Ollantaytambo station, where our private vehicle will be waiting to take you back to Cusco city. The trip will take 2 to 3 hours by bus to your hotel.

It is important to note that you will not bring all of your stuff on this trek; you will only bring the essentials for the 5-day, 4-night Salkantay trek and leave the rest of your luggage in Cusco. We will provide you with a duffel bag to put 7 kilos of your stuff in; this should include your sleeping bag and air mattress. The mules will carry the duffel bags for the first 2 days. And then our porters will transfer you to the hotel in Aguas Calientes.

The Salkantay trek can depart any day of the week, from March to January. We do not run in February.
GROUP TOUR
$600 USD per person: A group tour means it is open for other trekkers to join; our guides are prepared to handle large groups and small groups.
PRIVATE TOUR
Private tours are available and the price is based on the size of the group.
- 2 trekkers: $700 per person.
- 3 trekkers: $680 per person.

HOTEL
All alternative treks end in Aguas Calientes or before. Instead of camping you will spend the night in a 3-star hotel in the village and this is included in the cost of the trek and is based on a shared room or if you prefer a single room, there will be an additional cost.
