It is an incredible 5-day, 4-night hike that will take you to one of the last sites of the Inca civilization. It is a large archaeological site that is still under the bushes and undergoing restoration, in this place you will see wonderful mountain landscapes; as well as a lot of Andean flora and fauna. It is also the road less traveled.
Visit a recently discovered set of ruins that is 3 times the size of Machu Picchu.

You will be picked up from your hotel around 4:30 am and we will drive to Capuliyoc for 3 hours. On the way you will be able to see the white mountain of Salkantay among other mountains at (2,900 masl), it is there where we will have breakfast accompanied by the wonderful landscape of the place. Then we begin 3 more hours downhill from Capuliyoc to our lunch spot in Chiquiska (1893 m / 6210 ft). After lunch we continue with the hike and you will be able to enjoy impressive views of Apurimac canyon. Our hike continues for another 2 hours to Rosalina beach to spend the night in this beautiful valley and you will have a hot drink; here we will have dinner and camp for the night.

Today we wake up with coca tea and coffee and then have breakfast; we prepare for one of the most challenging days of the hike. We start uphill crossing a hanging bridge over the Apurimac canyon for approximately 4 hours until the next campsite at Marampata (2911 m/ 2550 ft). At this place we will stop for lunch with an impressive view of the Apurimac River, after lunch it is another 2-hour climb to Choquequirao (3030 m / 9940 ft) this is the lost city of the Incas or sister of Machu Picchu that is located in a spectacular place perched in the Peruvian Andes overlooking the deep canyon.
This point was an entrance control of Vilcabamba which is the last capital of the Incas, and was recently discovered in the early 19th century. Our campsite is located next to the archaeological site, so you have the freedom to visit this mysterious place.

This day we wake up to the mountains and a fantastic sunrise. After breakfast we will have the whole day to explore this magnificent Inca city. The guide will take you on a full tour of the entire Inca site and the most beautiful places.
Choquequirao means (cradle of gold) but it is almost three times the size of Machu Picchu, for this reason it will soon become one of the most popular tourist destinations in America or Cusco. After taking all the time required to discover Choquequirao, we return to the same campsite for dinner and to spend the night.

After spending the night in the same place we have to return by the same path that we climbed. It is a 3 hour downhill hike to the lunch spot at Santa Rosa. Here we will enjoy our 4th day lunch, we continue walking downhill for 2 more hours before walking uphill for another 2 hours until we reach our campsite at Chiquiska (1800 m / 5905 ft). We will spend a long and different night with sounds of the waterfalls that can be heard in the distance.

Today we get up early and have breakfast to continue our last 4 hour hike uphill to Capuliyoc. Here we have our last lunch and we also say goodbye to our team of chef and porters on this expedition. Then we will take private transportation to Cusco, on the way we will be able to visit other Inca sites such as the beautifully carved rock that remains a mystery to archaeologists; we will have many stops on the way back to Cusco until we drop you off at your hotel around 5 pm.

It is important to note that you will not be taking all of your stuff on this trek; you will only take the essentials for the 5-day, 4-night trek to Choquequirao and leave the rest of your luggage in Cusco. We will provide you with a duffel bag to put 7 kilos of your stuff in; this should include your sleeping bag and air mattress. The horses will take care of the duffel bags during the trek until the last day of the trek.

The hike to choquequirao can be done any day of the week, from March to December. We do not do it in January and February due to climate change but we have the best dates of the month to open until September.
GROUP TOUR
$645 dollars per person: A group tour means that it is open for other hikers to join; our guides are prepared to handle large groups and small groups.
PRIVATE TOUR
Private tours are available and the price depends on the size of the group.
